Snowbreak: Containment Zone, which pivoted to a male-focused audience after its July 2023 release to achieve a successful turnaround, has been stuck in an indefinite maintenance limbo since March 2. The servers have been offline for a month, both in its domestic Chinese market and abroad. While there has been no official announcement, local fans believe the recent fallout from the collaboration with China Post is the primary cause.

When the maintenance began on March 2, no end date was provided. The developers stated, 'Due to the large scale of the data, the maintenance may take longer than expected, so we ask for your patience,' and promised to provide one 'Manifestation Resonance Proof' (a gacha character ticket) for every 24 hours the servers remain offline.

However, a month later, on April 3, the servers remain inaccessible. Furthermore, the official Chinese Bilibili channel has been scrubbed, leaving only about 20 videos that date back to just before the July 6, 2023 launch. Most of the previously uploaded videos have been set to private.

Snowbreak gained prominence by shifting its direction toward a high-exposure, male-oriented subculture game. In China, it is serviced as an adult-only title, restricted to those 18 and over. Since then, it has faced controversies regarding sexual content, leading to modifications of female character models and revealing outfits.

The issue regarding sexual content recently escalated due to the collaboration with China Post, which was scheduled from February 28 to March 6. The plan was to host offline pop-up events in five cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, and release commemorative gift boxes. However, concerns were raised that a state-owned entity collaborating with a game accused of being inappropriate for minors could have a negative impact, leading China Post to cancel both the events and the gift box release.

Shortly after, Snowbreak entered indefinite maintenance. Fans believe the developers are either waiting for the local public sentiment to settle or are keeping the servers closed to perform extensive revisions to address problematic content. However, the lack of an official statement continues to cause frustration among the player base.
