The 'Metal Gear Solid' live-action film, which was attempted a decade ago but failed to see the light of day, is starting up again. The directing duo behind 'Final Destination: Bloodlines' has taken the megaphone.

US entertainment outlet 'The Hollywood Reporter' reported exclusively on the 9th (local time) that Sony Pictures has signed a deal to adapt 'Metal Gear Solid' into a film with production company WonderLab Studio. WonderLab Studio is a production house founded by directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who directed 'Final Destination: Bloodlines'.

Under this agreement, the two directors will helm the 'Metal Gear Solid' adaptation. Additionally, Avi Arad and Ari Arad, who have worked on 'Uncharted' and 'Spider-Man', will serve as producers. If the film is completed and released, it will be the first live-action movie based on Metal Gear Solid.

Metal Gear Solid is the magnum opus of director Hideo Kojima and is considered a pioneer of the stealth-action genre. Kojima himself has a deep interest in film, and while pre-production for a Metal Gear Solid movie began in 2016, it was soon scrapped. The key question now is whether it can finally make its big-screen debut.

The two directors stated, "Metal Gear Solid was a groundbreaking masterpiece that changed the game. We are very excited and honored to be able to bring Hideo Kojima's iconic characters and unforgettable world to life."
