Krafton announced that PUBG MOBILE released the new 'Olympus' theme mode on the 12th to celebrate its 8th anniversary. This update includes a Greek mythology-inspired theme mode, improvements to the classic mode, quality-of-life enhancements, and various 8th-anniversary events.

The Olympus theme mode is available on the Erangel, Livik, and Rondo maps. Specific urban areas such as Yasnaya Polyana and Mylta have been reimagined with an ancient Greek aesthetic. Scattered across the maps are 'Trials' themed around various mythological figures, including Prometheus, Achilles, Sparta, Icarus, and Griffin. Players can complete these trials to earn rewards and team reputation points. The top four teams with the highest reputation points are granted the opportunity to enter the 'Olympus Temple'.

In the Olympus Temple, players face not only rival teams but also the Centaur boss, Helios. Players can utilize various themed items for strategic gameplay, such as 'Wax Wings' for aerial leaps and flight, the 'Spartan Battle Flag' to create a team buff zone, and 'God's Wrath', which increases movement speed and reduces damage taken to the upper body.

Updates have also been applied to the classic mode. A new two-seater convertible, the Roadster, has been added to all maps except Karakin. When the engine RPM reaches a certain level, the turbocharger activates, providing powerful acceleration. Additionally, the JS9 has been added to all maps, including Erangel, Livik, and Miramar, while the Panzerfaust has been expanded to Erangel, Miramar, Rondo, and Vikendi. The Panzerfaust has been adjusted to have a wider blast radius and increased damage against vehicles.

Weapon balance has also been partially adjusted. Assault Rifles (ARs) see a slight increase in close and mid-range damage, with the M16A4 and MK47 Mutant specifically adjusted to their previous damage levels. Shotguns (SGs) now have increased damage drop-off over distance, while Sniper Rifles (SRs) and Designated Marksman Rifles (DMRs) have had distance-based damage drop-off removed, with additional damage applied based on armor durability.

Quality-of-life updates have also been implemented. The parachute formation UI has been improved to allow for more intuitive tracking of team movement paths, and a feature has been added allowing team leaders to force-cancel the 'follow' function. A new 'Drop-in' feature has been introduced to Craft Ground. This allows players to join matches in progress without waiting for a full lobby if the map settings are public, and also enables players to join matches currently being played by friends.

To commemorate the update, 8th-anniversary events will be held. The 8th Anniversary Attendance event runs from May 15th to June 1st, and players who complete 15 days of attendance will receive the '8th Anniversary Profile'. Additionally, the 8th Anniversary Play event will take place from May 15th to May 22nd, and players who complete all missions will be rewarded with an '8th Anniversary Border'.
