The Korea AI Game Association is set to operate its domestic indie game exhibition brand, 'Indie Arcade', at the global game expo 2026 PlayX4, hosted by Gyeonggi-do.

The event will run from May 21st to 24th at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 1 in Ilsan, open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. A number of local indie games will participate, featuring a field-oriented program where developers and creators can communicate directly with users and receive feedback.

Programs to revitalize the indie game industry and expand industry exchanges have also been prepared. On the 21st, the association will hold the 2026 Indie-ple Awards, followed by a networking party at 7:00 PM for industry insiders and participating development teams.

Meanwhile, the association expressed regret over recent changes in exhibition support policies. While it was previously free, the policy has changed to require participants to cover a portion of the costs. The association explained that this has increased the burden on cash-strapped indie game development teams and has had a certain impact on the scale of participation applications.

A representative from the association stated, "Indie games are an important foundation that drives the creativity and diversity of the domestic game industry," adding, "We hope for continued policy support and expanded participation subsidies so that more indie game developers can have opportunities for exhibition and promotion." They further added, "We plan to continue expanding opportunities for domestic indie game developers to meet users and industry officials through Indie Arcade, and will continue to prepare various programs to activate exchanges and collaboration between the industry."
