Applications for the 2026 Play Buddy Disability Game Assistive Device Support Project are set to close on May 22.

This initiative is a collaborative effort between The Beautiful Foundation, Kakao Games, the National Rehabilitation Center, and the Gyeonggi Assistive Technology Research and Support Center. It provides tailored gaming assistive devices and user training for those facing barriers to accessibility.

The Gyeonggi Assistive Technology Research and Support Center runs this project alongside partner organizations to boost digital cultural participation for people with disabilities. This year, they've expanded the reach from the Seoul and Gyeonggi regions to the entire nation, and increased the support limit per person from 2.3 million won to 2.5 million won.

Any person with a disability who wants to enjoy PC, mobile, or console games is eligible, with no age restrictions. You can apply individually or through an institutional recommendation. Supported items include special keyboards, eye-tracking and head-tracking mice, bespoke controllers, switches, and posture support gear.

Applications can be submitted online via email, or offline through post, fax, or in-person visits. Final participants will be selected following document screening and usability assessments. The evaluation process involves experts who take a comprehensive look at the applicant's physical functions and gaming environment.

Kang In-hak, Director of the Gyeonggi Assistive Technology Research and Support Center, remarked, "Games are more than just entertainment; they are crucial content that supports social participation and cultural enjoyment for people with disabilities." He added, "By providing personalized support that reflects individual physical traits and usage environments, we are genuinely enhancing game accessibility and will continue to expand these initiatives to ensure no one is left behind in digital culture and leisure activities."
