Your very first task involves grape farming, as a local resident named Orlock requests grapes for winemaking. This requires you to cultivate the vines and establish a fermentation facility.

True to the genre, you can craft various structures and furnishings. By building refineries for stone and wood planks, or using furnaces to smelt ore, you can create bespoke gothic-style furniture like bat-shaped footstools, sarcophagus beds, and jack-o'-lanterns to decorate your home.

But if that were all, the supernatural setting would feel rather cosmetic. Moonlight Peaks leans into its mystical world by allowing you to unlock supernatural bloodline abilities as you progress. You can transform into a bat or a cat to navigate the world and gather resources more effectively.

Magic wands also play a pivotal role, allowing you to cast spells that automatically water tiles or summon phantom pickaxes to mine ore. Interestingly, the game does not lock resources behind tool tiers; magic simply does the work for you. Why use tools at all then? Because wands are consumable items, making magic a strategic choice.

Beyond magic, the village is home to diverse species from the seven great families: vampires, seers, merfolk, witches, werewolves, and humans. Managing the village involves building relationships with these folks, and yes, romance is on the cards—so keep gifting those items to boost your affinity.

The characters are rendered in an adorable SD style with round eyes and expressive features. Getting to know their distinct personalities and backstories is a core part of the charm. While the default portraits carry a Western cartoon aesthetic that might not suit everyone, the game thoughtfully provides an option in the settings to toggle to a Japanese anime-inspired style.

A wealth of mini-games keeps things fresh, from fishing and bug catching to flower arranging and embroidery. You can even brew potions or challenge the villagers to a round of 'Nocturna', a popular local card game.
