The Wuthering Waves 3.6 update, scheduled for August 20, promises a fresh injection of new Resonators, content, and system optimizations.

Kuro Games released a reveal trailer on the 7th detailing the 3.6 update, titled 'Shadows of the Lantern in the Mirage, the Blade's Resolve in the Mortal Realm.' The update is split into two phases, introducing new Resonators 'Cheongcho' and 'Gyeongyeon', alongside fresh regions and gameplay content.

Leading the charge in version 3.6 are Cheongcho and Gyeongyeon. Arriving in the first phase, the 5-star Resonator Cheongcho wields an Aero-attributed Sword. As the legendary sword immortal who has defended the people of the Xuanfang territory for centuries, Cheongcho blends swordplay with string instruments in combat, focusing heavily on 'Harmony Convergence' effects.

The second phase features another 5-star Resonator, Gyeongyeon. Nicknamed the 'Mountain Cat Lantern,' this character wields a Fusion-attributed Broadblade. Gyeongyeon utilizes a life-draining lantern and a 'Mountain Cat' echo beast to unleash devastating offensive strikes.

Past characters are also making a return. The first phase features Denia, while the second phase sees the return of Hiyuki and Monie. Given their popularity and performance, players who missed out last time will likely be eager to pull for them.

The main narrative continues in Chapter 4, Act 3: 'The Clouds are Distant, the Heart Sword Echoes.' The Rover joins Cheongcho to infiltrate the Wueon Pavilion, seeking clues to overcome a new crisis amidst fragments of the past. This journey unveils a new sky-bound stage, the 'Unseon Fleet.'

Simultaneously, the 'Sword Flight' feature launches in the Mengzhu and Xuanfang regions, allowing players to ride a blade through the skies for a completely new mode of traversal. Once missions are complete, players can obtain a seven-stringed zither to compose and share their own melodies.

Limited-time events are shaking up the combat loop. The 'Stellar Resonance Simulation' trades the usual camera for a top-down perspective, letting players stress-test their Resonators. Meanwhile, 'Echoes of the Dream' is a co-op challenge where players must buff their Echoes to fend off waves of relentless enemies.

Quality-of-life and performance upgrades are also on the menu. The Echo system's recommendation algorithm is getting a boost, making stat comparisons more intuitive. The exploration bike is receiving better navigation and auto-drive logic, while the mailbox gets a storage cap increase and a bookmarking feature. Crucially, the engine code for PC, iOS, and PS5 has been overhauled, boosting frame rates by roughly 10 FPS. Integration of NVIDIA’s DLSS 4.5 tech should also ensure sharper character animations and smoother visuals.

Towards the end of the broadcast, the team gave a surprise 3D reveal of 'Swaemyeong,' previously only seen in illustrations. A 1/7 scale figure of Linne was also unveiled, alongside a Domino's Pizza collaboration starting on the 21st. Further details on the collaboration will follow.
