A brand new multiplayer spin-off based on the universe of Poppy Playtime, now a proper heavy hitter in the realm of mascot horror, has just been announced.

Mob Entertainment announced on August 27 its cooperative survival horror newcomer, Escape from Playtime, alongside its brand new Steam page. Set squarely within the toy manufacturing factory of Playtime Co., the main stage of the original game, the title tasks up to four players with teaming up to complete missions and survive.

You will take on the role of tiny plushies from the Smiling Critters lineup, first unveiled in Poppy Playtime 3, to carry out your missions. Following the orders of a mysterious entity barking instructions from the shadows, you must scavenge resources and parts scattered across the facility to build a safe haven.

To accomplish your tasks, you will need to hunt for tools and solve puzzles while dodging failed monster experiments roaming the factory floor. Given your pint-sized stature and low field of view, you will need to actively make use of hiding spots and alternative routes to throw off threats.

Inside the factory, various locations like classrooms, storage warehouses, laboratories, and corridors are dynamically arranged via a procedural generation system. While proximity voice chat is supported for team comms, watch out—your voices register as noise, meaning you can easily give away your position to enemies.

Escape from Playtime is launching into Early Access, where you can check out all 8 Smiling Critters, foundational zones, and basic enemy types. Mob Entertainment stated that they will continuously gather community feedback while expanding new regions, additional characters, and improvements in a phased manner.
