Pokémon Korea announced on the 14th that the National Gwangju Science Museum special exhibition, 'Pokémon Fossil Museum', will be held in December. The Pokémon Fossil Museum exhibition is content that allows visitors to learn paleontology by comparing fossil Pokémon appearing in the Pokémon games with fossils and prehistoric creatures found in reality.

The Pokémon Fossil Museum was first held through a joint planning between the National Museum of Nature and Science in Japan and The Pokémon Company. Afterwards, it made headlines by recording sold-out ticket cases during a Japanese tour exhibition and the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, USA. This special exhibition at the National Gwangju Science Museum is the second overseas exhibition following the United States.

In this exhibition, the Tarbosaurus dinosaur skeletal specimen and the Tyrant Pokémon Tyrantrum, and ammonite fossils and the Spiral Pokémon Omanyte will be exhibited side by side. Through this, basic knowledge of paleontology will be delivered easily and funly by comparing Pokémon and real-world fossils. By connecting the process of excavating and researching fossils in reality with the Pokémon universe, scientific curiosity and a spirit of inquiry are fostered across generations.

Director Lee Jung-gu of the National Gwangju Science Museum stated, "This is an excellent science education exhibition that pleasantly introduces the subjects of paleontology and fossils, which can feel a bit difficult, through Pokémon, which is familiar to many people," and added, "We want to present the joy of scientific discovery and unforgettable memories to children and families visiting the National Gwangju Science Museum for the winter vacation."

The Pokémon Fossil Museum Special Exhibition is scheduled to open in mid-December 2026 and run until the summer of 2027 at the National Gwangju Science Museum. More detailed information about the exhibition will be announced later.
