Look, let's be honest, 2K has decided to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Mafia 3 by launching the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Mafia 3: Definitive Edition, alongside a fresh coat of paint for the Steam version, as announced on August 16.

Mafia 3 first saw the light of day back on October 7, 2016. Set in 1968 within the mafia-ruled city of New Bordeaux, the narrative follows Lincoln Clay on a gritty quest for vengeance after losing family. You can take the fight to the Italian mob on your own terms, building a brand new criminal empire alongside a loyal roster of underbosses.

The newly minted PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions boast butter-smooth 60 FPS gameplay. Alongside this framerate bump, 2K claims that mission progression stability, graphical fidelity, and the user interface have all received a proper polish, while trophies and achievements track much more accurately for a smoother experience overall.

The Steam version hasn't been left out in the cold either, receiving its own sweeping gameplay tweaks. Mission progression, achievement tracking, and non-player character behaviour have all been tuned up, alongside polished graphics, display settings, and user interfaces so that both newcomers and veterans can experience Lincoln Clay's journey without any annoying hiccups.

If you already own the physical or digital PS4 versions, you can grab a free digital upgrade to the PS5 version, while Xbox One digital owners get the same courtesy for Xbox Series X/S.
