Mobile – The top tier is 'stable', while everything from 6th place down is 'chaos'

Welcome to the first weekly big data game rankings of July 2025. Recently, the atmosphere across all charts has been shifting wildly from week to week. After a trend of stabilisation two weeks ago, chaos descended last week. The start of July, however, brought a mix of both. From 5th place upwards, things remained quiet, while everything below was in a state of flux.

First, looking at the very top, 'Mabinogi Mobile' has reclaimed its solo-run status. Following behind, 'Seven Knights Re:BIRTH' and 'Lineage M' are locked in a shoulder-to-shoulder battle for the second-place group. With a significant gap between them and the leader, both titles seem to be pouring all their efforts into securing that runner-up spot.

4th place 'Roblox' and 5th place 'Odin: Valhalla Rising' have firmly secured their respective territories. They aren't in a position where moving higher or worrying about the pursuit of lower-ranked titles is an immediate concern. Aside from the rivalry between Seven Knights Re:BIRTH and Lineage M, there are no real catalysts for sudden change in the 1st to 5th place bracket. Unless there are specific updates or major issues, these five titles are expected to maintain their dominance in the mobile market for the time being.

The situation from 6th place downwards is entirely different. When looking at the top 40, only four titles remain in the same position as they were a week ago. It is fair to say we are seeing massive movement. Amidst this volatility, all eyes are on 'Brown Dust 2' and 'MapleStory M', both of which climbed 5 spots. They stood out in the final tally of June, and their momentum has remained impressive for two consecutive weeks.

Of the two, Brown Dust 2 is now in a position where a breakthrough into the TOP 10 is well within reach. The impact of the 2nd-anniversary update and events has been beyond imagination. Looking at this week's search volume, it has entered the field of vision for 11th place 'Brawl Stars'. However, 10th place 'Wuthering Waves' remains at a distance that is difficult to close, so a new catalyst will be needed to crack the top 10.

There is also news of new arrivals. The protagonist of the first week of July is 'Silver and Blood'. It secured a respectable 19th place in its first tally. It is a title that garnered significant anticipation even during the pre-registration period. As evidenced by its performance, it is clearly making its presence felt among some formidable veterans. Since the buzz surrounding a launch typically lasts at least a month, I expect it to continue its upward trajectory throughout July.

Online – Lost Ark marches toward the top

The online game chart follows a similar pattern to the mobile sector mentioned above. Using 5th place as a benchmark, the atmosphere above and below differs significantly. The difference lies in the status of the 5th place title. While 'Odin: Valhalla Rising' held its ground in the mobile sector, 'Lost Ark' made a leap in the online category. It achieved a valuable 2-place climb amidst a field of heavy hitters. Search volume had been slowly declining throughout the second quarter, but fortunately, a turnaround has been successful.

The backdrop for this surge is the 2025 Summer Update. A series of major moves, including the new 'Valkyrie' class, the 'Mokoko Challenge Express' for the summer season, and various offline exhibition events, have taken place in quick succession. A rise in search volume was a natural consequence.

Thanks to this, Lost Ark has surged past 'Minecraft' and 'Valorant' to return to 5th place. It has now begun its pursuit of 4th place 'Dungeon & Fighter'. As the influence of the aforementioned activities continues, the figures are expected to rise again next week. Whether it can reclaim 4th place based on this momentum or if more time is needed, I am curious to see the results of next week's tally.

Outside the top 10, the upward trend for 'Path of Exile' and 'Fortnite' continues. For the former, the start of a new league is the engine; for the latter, large-scale updates and events are driving the charge. Both had been quiet for quite some time, leaving users feeling starved for content. Given that they have added significant experiences to satisfy this hunger, it seems highly likely that their current rankings are not the end, and they will continue to climb higher.

Steam – Busy here as well, excluding the top tier

Interestingly, the Steam chart shares a similar vibe to the mobile and online game charts. There was little change in rankings or search volume for the 1st to 4th places compared to a week ago, while distinct movement occurred from 5th place onwards. Seeing this pattern across all three sectors, one gets the feeling that the top tier is generally solidifying.

In the Steam chart, all eyes are on the 3-place climb of 'Eternal Return'. While there are several factors, the launch of the Chinese service on June 27th likely had the greatest impact on the rise in search volume. Additionally, 'Split Fiction' and the new entrants 'Peak (15th)' and 'Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond (36th)' are also titles worth noting.

Among these, Peak is a new title from Landfall Games released on June 16th. It claimed the top spot in sales on June 23rd, and both concurrent players and user reviews are on an upward trend. Peak is a somewhat unique genre of cooperative climbing game; while it can be played solo, true enjoyment is found when playing with others. This is because there is a distinct charm in the cooperation required to climb mountains together. Despite the end of the launch discount event, it continues to perform well, so it is likely to record high search volumes for some time.

Pre-registration – New Stone Age title debuts on the chart

While 'Vampir' successfully defended its 1st place spot, another new title from Netmarble has debuted on the chart. It is 'Stone Age: Pet World', a new entry in the once-popular 'Stone Age' series. The previous Stone Age was a game set in the Stone Age where players captured and nurtured hundreds of species of pets. It recorded a cumulative total of 200 million users globally.

Stone Age: Pet World is based on the original work but is equipped with simple, intuitive, and modern systems. Players embark on a journey to become the ultimate trainer, collecting and nurturing various pets along the way. Furthermore, a large number of popular pets from the original game will appear, which should evoke a sense of nostalgia for gamers who enjoyed the original Stone Age.

There is also another new face. 'Justice Online', a martial arts open-world MMORPG that has started pre-registration ahead of its global launch. It is serviced by NetEase Games and supports multi-platform play on both PC and mobile. As an open-world title, it offers a variety of content and even announced the introduction of AI-powered NPCs back in February.
