Nexon launched Blue Archive on Steam on the 4th, kicking off a campaign to reward players with in-game items if they hit 10,000 reviews by the 11th. However, it was pointed out that this event violated Steam’s user review policies. Consequently, Nexon made a hurried decision to cancel the event.

Nexon had originally promised a reward of 5 Gift Choice Boxes and 5 Beautiful Bouquets if the game reached the 10,000-review milestone between the 4th and the 11th. Yet, on the final day of the event, the publisher abruptly halted the proceedings and decided not to distribute the promised rewards.

In a formal announcement, Nexon stated, 'We identified that the event could potentially conflict with platform policies, leading us to end it prematurely,' adding, 'We kindly ask for your understanding regarding the decision not to distribute the rewards in order to ensure compliance with platform policies.' It appears the team may have overlooked the fact that Steam prohibits incentivizing reviews.

Valve, the operator of Steam, explicitly prohibits requesting reviews from users in exchange for games, DLC, or in-game items. This policy is outlined in the Steamworks documentation. Furthermore, developers are not permitted to incentivize reviews within the game itself. This stands in contrast to the mobile market, where such practices are common.

By the time Nexon ended the event on the 11th, the Steam version of Blue Archive had already surpassed 10,000 reviews. While these character affinity items do not hold the same value as Pyroxenes, players who left reviews in good faith may feel disappointed by the sudden cancellation.

In response, Nexon stated, "We will strive to examine our future events more meticulously to provide a better service for our players."
