Despite promising a release this year, Hollow Knight: Silksong (hereinafter Silksong) has been radio silent, but it is finally gracing us with a demo.

Microsoft spilled the beans on its official website on the 28th (local time) regarding its booth details for Gamescom 2025. Set to take place from August 20th to 24th at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany, Gamescom 2025 remains the world's largest gaming trade fair. Microsoft is returning with its Xbox booth, providing a rundown of playable demos, hardware, and various activities.

The real head-turner here is that Silksong has made the cut for the playable demo lineup at the event. Developed by Team Cherry, Silksong is the direct follow-up to Hollow Knight. The narrative picks up after the original ending, following the journey of Hornet, the princess and protector of Hallownest. While first announced in 2019 to much fanfare, it has spent a long time in the shadows. The title finally resurfaced in April via a Nintendo Direct, leaving fans wishing for more concrete details.

While the exact length of the Silksong demo remains a mystery, attendees can get their hands on it via PC and handheld consoles, specifically the ROG Ally and Ally X. These two ROG Ally models are ASUS's new hardware, blending the performance of Xbox with the versatility of the Windows operating system.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is using Gamescom to showcase a total of 14 demos, including Borderlands 4, Onimusha: Path of the Sword, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, EA Sports FC 26, Animo, and PowerWash Simulator 2, alongside Silksong.
