We have seen a massive surge in Attack-type heroes, while other archetypes have taken a noticeable dive. While the raw data might look like a simple case of a new hero stealing the spotlight, a deeper dive into the top-tier compositions reveals a much more nuanced battlefield. Let’s dissect the current meta based on the latest Arena team formation stats.

Hero Pick Rates Begin to Plateau in the 30% Range

Upon release, Colt immediately climbed to the top spot for Attack-type hero picks in the Arena. The upheaval was most pronounced among the Challenger rank and above. Word has spread that the signature 'Bomb' effect is particularly punishing against defensive setups, leading to a wave of players rushing to build and field high-transcendence Colt units as their main damage dealers. Colt's 6-transcendence passive is essentially a snowball machine, making it a dominant force in the current meta. Furthermore, the combination of Stealth and Authority effects gives Colt a level of survivability rarely seen in Attack-type heroes, which is a key reason for the high praise.

If we look back at the history of the Arena meta, it all started with Teo. We saw a constant tug-of-war between high-burst physical offense and the defensive stalwarts like Rudy, Rook, and Alice. Just as Yushin was rising to dismantle these defensive walls, Melcure arrived, seemingly signaling the end of the defensive era. Then came Karma, who held the throne with a stall-heavy party until just last week. But with the arrival of Colt, the pendulum has swung once again.

The current consensus is to fight fire with fire—mirroring with your own Colt—or to go with a Rin-led magic assault. As the prevalence of Colt parties inevitably wanes, we expect defensive compositions to make a comeback, followed perhaps by the return of Melcure to break them down. It is becoming a game of rock-paper-scissors, with various compositions constantly clashing.

The overall hero pick rate stats back this up. The top pick's share has been trending downward, now settling into the 30% range. Compared to the early days when the gap between the 1st and 10th place picks exceeded 50 percentage points, the playing field is now much more leveled. This indicates that a wider variety of hero combinations are actively competing on the battlefield.

The Return of the Attack Meta Boosts 'Eirin's' Popularity

Thanks to Colt's rise, Eirin has reclaimed the top spot among Arena pets, jumping by 15 percentage points and cannibalizing the shares of others. Pike took the biggest hit; with effect resistance currently feeling lackluster against Colt, players are doubling down on pure damage. Still, Pike managed to hold onto 3rd place with 21.5%, so it is far from obsolete. As we noted, the current meta is a melting pot of different strategies.

As for Arena formations, the Balance formation continues to slowly gain ground. It ticked up by 2 percentage points this week, while the Protective formation saw a corresponding decline. Given the weekly shifts, the gap between the two is likely to widen further.

What is the standard Colt party?

Our Best Pick of the week is the Colt Attack party. Many top-tier rankers are currently running this in the Protective formation, pairing it with Eirin for physical damage support. While the build is straightforward, the old Seven Knights hero 'Pai' remains a hurdle. Since acquisition is limited, rankers have been substituting Vanessa or Ace. They are not there for their skills, but for their passive abilities that reduce enemy defense.

For those who prefer the Balance formation, placing Colt and Teo in the rear is the way to go. If you are lucky enough to have Pai at 2-transcendence or higher, consider placing Pai in the back instead of Colt or Teo. Eileen and Dellons fill the support roles, providing physical buffs/debuffs and crowd control like shock and silence.

Total War Pick of the Week

Total War Round 9 Winner 'PT Seonae'

The Total War pick of the week is the 4-team lineup from 'PT Seonae', who finished 1st in Round 9. While most players chasing Challenger rank were clustered around 5,580 points, this player surged ahead with 5,900. The teams were organized as Defense, Physical, Magic, and Anti-Instant Death respectively. Note that this was achieved before reaching Challenger, so it is a 4-team setup.

Team 2, the Colt offensive party, uses the Colt-Pai main damage dealer setup we mentioned earlier. It utilizes the Balance formation, with Teo placed in the vanguard. The transcendence levels were Teo 12, Colt 6, and Pai 2. With nine rounds already completed, this setup likely represents a finished product of extensive research.

The other teams are fairly standard, though one interesting detail is the use of Karma as the main dealer in the Team 1 defensive party instead of Jave. Since Karma has both attack and defense scaling, it works regardless of placement, but the player likely prioritized the higher coefficient. Alternatively, it might be to bait enemy attacks toward Jave in the front.

Seven Knights Re:BIRTH User Poll

Our previous poll focused on the core challenge for all adventurers: collecting 5-star hero combinations. This has effectively become the main endgame goal, as reaching 200 combinations guarantees an old Seven Knights hero. There is a system where the gauge resets if you are lucky enough to pull an old Seven Knights hero before hitting the 200 mark, though it seems none of our voters have experienced this reset yet.

The largest group, at 41.4%, is in the 100-150 range, followed by 150-200, while 20.7% have completed fewer than 100.
