The 1,000-day anniversary illustration and web event for Goddess of Victory: NIKKE (hereinafter referred to as Nikke) contained awkward expressions, leading to a vocal demand from the community for explanations and fixes. Director Hyung-suk Yoo, who oversees development at Shift Up, admitted that a failure in the content review process caused the issue and promised that such blunders would not occur again.

The Nikke 1,000-day celebration kicked off on July 30. The event was designed to allow players to check and share their in-game achievements via the official community. However, players pointed out that the hand gestures of the characters in the illustration looked unnatural, and the accompanying event text lacked polish.

Shift Up clarified that the problematic assets were produced by an overseas outsourcing firm and insisted that there was no malicious intent or hateful expression involved. However, the developer conceded that the failure to flag these issues during the inspection process created avoidable misunderstandings.

Director Hyung-suk Yoo issued a formal apology on the 1st. He stated, "Essential review procedures were skipped, and the content was published without a proper check by the core development team, including myself." He added, "The web event text failed to resonate with our players, and the images used were subpar in quality, with some expressions carrying the risk of being misinterpreted in certain regions."

Director Hyung-suk Yoo expressed deep responsibility as the lead developer and vowed to prevent any repeat of this situation. He announced, "We will implement a double-layered detection process for gray areas and conduct a full-scale overhaul of our event review protocols."

The illustration in question has since been updated. To make amends, the developer is gifting players 2,000 Jewels, 5 Advanced Recruit Vouchers, 100 Grow Sets (1H), and 5 Custom Modules. Director Yoo remarked, "We have prepared a small gift to express our sincere apologies and deepest gratitude as we mark this 1,000-day milestone."
