With the pick-up summon for the new hero Platon drawing to a close, players have had plenty of time to dissect the optimal setups for the arena. The consensus among the top-tier arena and total war players is clear: Platon is the undisputed king of pick rates. Now that the Offensive Formation Platon meta has firmly established itself, the hunt for a counter-strategy is well and truly on. Let’s dive into the hero pick rates and see what the top players are losing sleep over.

Over half of the rankers have made their choice: Platon

Before we get into the numbers, a quick housekeeping note regarding our data collection scope. We have expanded our reach from the top 100 players in servers 3 and 4 (200 in total) to include the top 100 players from server 7, bringing our sample size to 300. This shift is intended to provide a much tighter, more granular analysis of the meta.

Platon, who showed promise in the first week, has truly taken flight. With a staggering 13.3% point jump, the hero now sits comfortably at the top, leading second-place Melkire by a comfortable 4.3% margin. Following closely are Rin and Vanessa, whose near-identical pick rates suggest that most top-tier players are running the top four heroes in one unified package.

While the magic-based decks led by Platon dominate the current landscape, physical attack parties are still holding their own. Colt sits at 5th, with Pii and Teo sharing 7th place—proof they remain relevant. Intriguingly, some players are even slotting Platon into these physical setups, proving that regardless of the build, Platon is the must-have ingredient.

The defensive meta remains a staple, with the quartet of Rudy, Lina, Karma, and Rose maintaining their positions from 10th to 13th. Depending on the level of transcendence and overall growth, some players are opting to swap in Yushin for crowd control or Kries for a death-based stall deck. However, it seems the community has yet to find a definitive answer to the Platon problem.

The 'Offensive Formation' shatters the dual-meta dominance

The formation meta, which showed signs of cracking last week, has finally flipped. The Offensive Formation has surged by 25.3% points, becoming the new standard. This has forced the Balanced and Defensive formations down by about 13% points each, turning the meta into a fierce three-way tug-of-war. Interestingly, we are seeing a slight uptick in the basic formation; while it currently sits at just 1%, seeing it appear in the top 20 rankings suggests some players are busy cooking up something new.

Unlike the volatile formations, the pet meta is settling into a quiet rhythm. Excluding Kree in 5th place, the variance across the board has stabilized. While Irin leads the pack, it is premature to assume this confirms a physical-only meta. Rather, the high pick rate is likely tied to the nature of physical attack parties that rely on pushing high damage ceilings to overwhelm opponents.

For instance, while magic parties often opt for Roo for survivability or Pike for status resistance alongside Yeonji, physical parties find more success using Irin to amplify raw firepower. It is a classic case of 'the best defense is a good offense.'

Best Pick of the Week

Platon Offensive Formation, solidified by the 'Magic Deck'

Our 'Best Pick' this week is the Platon Magic Deck, a more refined evolution of the build we featured last week. The key changes are Yeonhee and Vanessa in the backline, replacing Yushin and Rose with pure firepower to push the magic damage ceiling even higher.

The core strategy remains consistent: anchor the front with Platon to soak up damage and chip away with fixed damage, while the backline rains down magical devastation. Against offensive teams, Rin’s confusion acts as the catalyst, followed by the penetrating damage of Yeonhee and Vanessa. Against defensive teams, Melkire’s 'Magic Backflow' serves as the ultimate win condition.

Customization is another strength here. Slotting in Lina or Rose to bolster Platon’s survival is standard, but a word of caution: the 'Magic Backflow' effect requires exactly three Magic-type heroes. If you run both Lina and Rose alongside Platon, you only have two Magic-type units. We have seen players fall into this trap, so double-check your lineup before jumping into a match.

Total War Pick of the Week

A second-place finish in the final round! 'BitJonghwan'

The latest Total War season has wrapped up. Today we are looking at the setup used by BitJonghwan, who finished in second place with 14,680 points. While they missed the top spot by a mere 160 points behind FlynnRider, their unique hero composition really caught our eye.

The standout is the death-based defensive deck in the second slot, with Aragon at the heart of the Offensive Formation. Aragon is a powerhouse, boasting self-healing, penetration, stun, and the ability to reduce turn-based buffs. By keeping Kries at the front to leverage immortality, BitJonghwan is effectively protecting Aragon to stall for late-game control. With a buff for Aragon already announced for the next update, expect this setup to become even more dangerous.

Team 4, featuring Juri in the vanguard, is also a fascinating choice. With Yeonhee and Colt as primary damage dealers, the team uses Nia for buff reduction, Vanessa for dispelling, and Juri for 'Annihilation.' Given the inclusion of Colt and Juri, this appears to be a targeted counter to immortality-focused teams. Like Aragon, Juri is also in line for a balance adjustment, so we will be watching to see how BitJonghwan adapts in the coming season.

Seven Knights Re:BIRTH User Poll

Our last poll explored your strategies for the Seven Knights Chess. As expected, the most efficient method won out by a landslide. A massive 88.5% of you chose the '4 days, 2 draws + 24 days, 3 draws' strategy. It is the most cost-effective way to secure your desired legendary hero and 'Shining Skill Enhancement Stones' with minimal resource waste.

About 10% of you opted for a more casual approach, focusing only on the wishlist heroes with 1-2 draws per day. Then, there are the brave souls—a tiny minority—who cleared the entire board on day one. It is always refreshing to see that even when a 'perfect' strategy exists, players find their own ways to enjoy the game.
