Webzen is bringing back their beloved IP, R2, rebuilt with the power of Unreal Engine 5.

Webzen announced on the 20th that the brand site for R2 Origin (Reign of Revolution ORIGIN) is officially live, with pre-registration now underway. R2 Origin is a new MMORPG that recreates Webzen's steady-selling IP 'R2' using Unreal Engine 5. It is currently in development for a release later this year and will be available as a cross-platform title for mobile and PC.

The brand site is anchored by a cinematic trailer signaling the dawn of R2 Origin. The medieval European fantasy setting of the original R2 has been rendered with significantly more realistic and flashy visuals. In addition, the site introduces new information about the game, such as its world and representative classes, and features the story of heroes standing their ground against the Black Dragon, Meteos. The four revealed classes—Knight, Assassin, Archer, and Wizard—are each depicted with artwork that mirrors the actual in-game graphics.

You can sign up for pre-registration via the R2 Origin brand site or the Kakao Games pre-registration page. Webzen plans to open pre-registration on the Google Play Store in the near future. Those who sign up early will receive special in-game rewards upon launch.

In addition, Webzen has kicked off a 'Character Name Reservation' event to coincide with the pre-registration. The studio is also ramping up community engagement by launching official social media channels for R2 Origin.
