The developers of Call of Duty have announced their intention to release skin bundles and packages for Black Ops 7 that align with the core identity of the franchise.

This update was shared on the 26th via the official Call of Duty blog. Activision acknowledged, "We are aware of the recent discourse among our community regarding the identity of Call of Duty," adding, "Some feedback suggests that Call of Duty is drifting away from its roots, and we are taking those concerns quite seriously."

Activision continued, "To ensure a cohesive identity befitting the franchise, operators, skins, and weapons from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will not carry over to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 (hereinafter Black Ops 7)." The developer added, "A vast amount of feedback has already been integrated into Black Ops 7, and all future bundles and items will be designed to strictly adhere to the Black Ops identity."

This marks a sharp pivot from Activision's earlier promise to allow players to transfer weapons, operators, and skins from Black Ops 6 to Black Ops 7. It appears the company has scrapped the original plan in response to players who grew weary of immersion-breaking skins cluttering the battlefield.

However, some players remain skeptical, pointing to the futuristic skins offered as pre-order bonuses. Critics argue, "It is hardly convincing to preach about 'Call of Duty identity' when you are already peddling skins that feel nothing like the franchise." Conversely, some suggest that since Black Ops 7 is set in the near future, certain futuristic elements might be acceptable.
