Starting September 8th, The King of Fighters AFK (hereinafter KOF AFK) begins its main event run. The festivities are split between server-specific schedules and fixed-duration events, meaning your mileage may vary depending on when your server went live. Given that there are two simultaneous pick-up banners plus a labyrinth of dedicated events, navigating this mess is no small feat. KookminTree has stepped in to help you parse the current event landscape and provided some essential tips.

The pick-up goal: Aim for 1-star Kyo and Chizuru

First up is the KOF AFK launch pick-up for the legendary fighter Kusanagi Kyo. Participation requires reaching summon level 3. You will need to spend specific summon tickets and Rubies to pull here. Alongside this, the 'Kusanagi Kyo Participation Event' is currently live. Complete 10 daily missions to earn tickets for both the Rage pick-up and Kyo's own banner.

Kyo is essentially God tier. The promotion effects are frankly absurd; at 1-star, you get a 60% boost across the board to Attack, HP, Defence, and Penetration. Fighters like Orochi Leona and Iori share similar scaling, so Kyo is a must-promote to 1-star.

To hit that 1-star rank, you are looking at a hard pity of 3,000 pulls—roughly 3 million Rubies. You might get lucky and pull Kyo earlier, but counting on luck is a fool's game. Fortunately, there is a way to shave off some costs: the 'Kyo Participation Event' rewards.

Clearing daily missions grants 'Red Shards', which are used to level up your pass. Intermediate rewards include 'Synergy Fighter Tokens', while the final milestone nets you 60 pick-up tickets. Spend those tokens on the Rage Synergy fighter banner and the tickets on Kyo. In total, you are saving roughly 60,000 Rubies.

A quick word of warning for the daily missions: one task requires 30 pulls on the Kyo banner, meaning you must drop 30,000 Rubies per day. To clear the pass, you need to commit to this for 5 days, totaling 150 pulls. Plan your resources carefully to ensure you do not waste Rubies.

Next, the Rage pick-up offers a higher chance for fighters with the Rage synergy effect. Crucially, the pity threshold is lower than Kyo's; while Kyo guarantees a drop at 1,000 pulls, the Rage banner grants a selection chest at 500. This chest lets you pick from Chizuru, Maxima, Meitenkun, Kensou, Antonov, or Shen Woo. Chizuru is the standout choice here. As a current God tier unit with an all-enemy attack and an evasion buff, players are already calling the character an 'evasion tank'. Once promoted, the evasion cooldown drops from 2 turns to 1.

Unlike the Kyo banner, the Rage pick-up lacks a dedicated mission event. Use the tickets from the Kyo event to supplement your pulls, and if you run out, dip into your Ruby stash. Investing in the Rage banner to rank up Chizuru is a solid play. If you are looking to expand your roster instead, Maxima, Meitenkun, and Kensou are your best second-tier alternatives.

Push the stages regardless of server event start dates

Then there are the events tied to your specific server launch date. These unlock sequentially based on when your server went live. KOF AFK does not restrict stage progression, but some content remains locked behind time gates. Players who joined on the September 4th launch will have everything fully accessible by September 10th.

Even if the content is not unlocked yet, you can meet the requirements in advance. For example, the League requires stage 581. Clear it early, and you will find the content ready and waiting the moment it unlocks. Since offline resource accumulation scales with your stage progress, there is no downside to pushing ahead.

Just be sure to keep up with your 'Guide Missions' as you push. If you sprint through stages too quickly, your guide missions might fall behind, delaying your resource intake. Fortunately, the game is designed so that if you keep playing, the guide missions should remain synced. As long as you do not fail your stage clears, you should be fine.

Don't ignore the official forum events

KOF AFK has also launched events on the official forum. You can participate in stage clear verification and a launch celebration event. The verification runs in two waves: September 5th–10th and September 15th–21st. The goal is to clear main stage 500 and post a screenshot on the forum. All participants will receive 5 sets of 3-hour offline fighter XP and 3 sets of 3-hour gold.

The launch celebration ends on September 14th. Simply head to the 'Grand Launch! Congratulations' board on the official forum and leave a celebratory or encouraging message. Everyone gets 12 hours of offline fighter XP, and 15 lucky winners (3 per region) will be randomly drawn to receive 50,000 Rubies. It is a simple task for decent rewards, so do not miss out.
