During the Chuseok holiday on 5 October 2025, members of the Reform Party and the People Power Party are set to clash in a StarCraft showdown. It is an event inspired by the long-standing joke among gamers that StarCraft is practically a 'national folk game'.

The lineup includes Reform Party leader Lee Jun-seok and People Power Party lawmaker Kim Jae-seop. The two will face off in a PC cafe located in Seoul on 5 October.

The event reinterprets the familiar StarCraft as a modern folk game, aiming to transcend political friction. It was planned to foster a new venue for interaction where politicians can embody the values of sharing and harmony, enjoying the holiday alongside the public.

The match format pairs lawmakers with former pro-gamers. 'The Dreamer' Kang Min, 'Genius Terran' Lee Yun-yeol, and 'God of War' Park Sung-jun will participate. Former SKT T1 coach Joo Hoon and former KTF coach Jeong Soo-young will also renew their historic rivalry as coaches, with caster Kim Cheol-min providing commentary. The match will be broadcast live on YouTube, and a donation will be made to a local welfare facility in the name of the winning team.

Reform Party leader Lee Jun-seok expressed his intent to make this a regular event, hoping to pave the way for political harmony and public engagement. 'I hope seeing ruling and opposition parties competing with smiles, rather than constant bickering, marks a fresh start for politics,' Lee noted.

Originally, Democratic Party lawmaker Mo Kyung-jong was slated to join, but he has since withdrawn. On 2 October, he took to X (Twitter) to explain his decision: 'I spent the night wide awake reading your feedback. I caused concern by announcing my participation in the StarCraft tournament, and I wish to set the record straight now.' He added, 'As many of you have rightly pointed out, this is a time when we must all stand in a single formation to fight.'
