Since their pick-up banners are still active, we expect these numbers to climb even higher in Season 17. It's time to watch if they truly reach the upper echelons like Little Mermaid and Cinderella.

Furthermore, we’ve seen a wave of familiar faces returning to the burst categories. In Burst 1, Pascal is back; in Burst 2, we have Grave, Eunhwa: Tactical Up, and Leona; while Burst 3 sees 2B, Kiri, and Maiden. These are units that have seen action in the Champion Arena before but had vanished from the charts for months. I initially thought these were just passion picks rather than meta choices, but here they are, making a resurgence in the competitive scene.

Let’s take a look at the squad of Rex, one of the top 8 finishers in Season 16. They’ve slotted Liberellio into an Emilia deck and opted for a setup that drops Jackal from the Scarlet combo. Liberellio’s passive boosts the charge speed of the Burst 3 NIKKE with the lowest attack power in the squad. In this build, Helm and Emilia are the Burst 3s, and the intent seems to be supercharging Emilia. If you're planning to run this, just make sure you check your stats—Emilia absolutely must have lower attack than Helm to reap the benefits.

As for the Scarlet deck, Jackal was swapped out for Soda, Anis, and Centi. The goal with Burst 1 unit Soda appears to be triggering that random 2-enemy stun. While survivability takes a slight hit, the triple-launcher composition makes for some remarkably fast burst generation.

Jackal, meanwhile, has moved over to the 'Vesti: Tactical Up + Ada' squad, focusing on shielding two defense-ignoring dealers. This squad has been undefeated all the way to the top 8. A bit of a warning, though: you’ll need Ada, the limited character from the Biohazard collaboration. Bad luck for those who started playing during the 3rd anniversary.

Solo Raid Meta Analysis

Nayuta and Liberellio are mandatory if you’re chasing the top spots

The Solo Raid 'Queen-001', which kicked off on November 13th, is weak to Wind Code. This marks the first real field test for the newcomers, Nayuta and Liberellio. We’re also looking forward to seeing other Wind Code units shine here. Key candidates include Scarlet: Black Shadow, Little Mermaid, Mana, and Guilty. It looks like Guilty might finally make a return as a Burst 2 for shotgun squads.

It remains to be seen if team composition will once again be gated by the ownership of limited characters. As of now, there’s no way to obtain Asuka Langley and Rei (tentative name) from the second Evangelion collaboration. Even with the raw power of pilgrims like Nayuta and Liberellio, the necessity of fielding five distinct squads in Solo Raid means those collaboration units will remain highly influential.

We also have high hopes for the swimsuit units, Rosanna: Chic Ocean and Sakura: Bloom in Summer. Rosanna: Chic Ocean, in particular, will likely be paired with Mihara: Bonding Chain.
