Joycity announced on the 21st that it has begun recruiting participants for the closed beta test of its new competitive football game, 'Freestyle Football 2', which is currently under development by its subsidiary, Wure.

'Freestyle Football 2' is a 5v5 real-time online football game. It inherits the cartoon-style art of Joycity's flagship 'Freestyle' series while implementing Unreal Engine 5 to deliver enhanced graphics.

Each character possesses unique skills and tactical roles, creating varied match dynamics, and players can experience individual character storylines through the scenario mode.

The game was first unveiled at Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany, last August. It is scheduled to be released as an Xbox Game Pass day-one title.

The closed beta test is scheduled to begin in January 2026, and users who wish to participate can apply via the official website. Joycity plans to use this test to verify core gameplay elements, including match stability, character balance, and controls, with a global audience.

Based on the feedback gathered from this closed beta, Joycity plans to continue development with the goal of a simultaneous launch on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 in the first half of 2026.
