The pre-expansion content update for World of Warcraft: Midnight will be released on January 22 of next year (based on local time).

This update offers a preview of various content and systems coming in the next expansion. The new Demon Hunter specialization, Devourer, arrives as a mid-range attacker, channeling Void energy to fend off threats to Azeroth. Additionally, Void Elves are officially joining the Illidari, allowing players to choose new class/race combinations such as Void Elf Demon Hunter.

Furthermore, a stat and item squish will be implemented to make managing stats more convenient. The user interface is also being updated, featuring new features, improved customization options, clearer raid frames, and expanded display controls. In addition, the transmogrification system update will allow players to unlock and save outfit sets for use in any situation.

Beyond that, the existing AI-bashing brawl is evolving into a permanent mode called 'PvP Training Grounds.' This mode helps players adapt to PvP gameplay while improving their understanding of new classes and specializations in a PvP environment. The training grounds will debut with three battlegrounds: Arathi Basin, Silvershard Mines, and The Battle for Gilneas.

Meanwhile, the pre-expansion in-game event begins on January 29. Through this event, the 'Winds of Wisdom' buff returns, increasing experience gains for levels 10 to 79. Further details will be unveiled at a later date.
