Epic Games has launched a text chat feature available across its entire ecosystem. With this update, conversations are synced across Fortnite, the Epic Games Store, and the Epic Games mobile app on iOS. The feature is scheduled to be added to the Epic Games launcher and the Android app this coming January.

Epic Games plans to expand support to Rocket League, Fall Guys, and games using the Epic Online Services (EOS) social overlay next year. The company also intends to open the text chat feature to titles outside of its own ecosystem. Users can use the social button to chat with friends, send friend requests, and manage communication settings.

Private messages and group chat history from the past 30 days are accessible across all platforms where the user is logged in. In Fortnite, text chat, friend requests, and the friend list can be found in the newly revamped sidebar. Users can manage their communication settings via the social button. iPhone and iPad users can install the relevant app via the App Store or the Epic Games website.

For safety, text reporting and parental control features are in operation. Conversations that violate community rules can be reported by clicking the icon, and the reporting feature is always active for players under 18. Parents can manage their children's chat permissions through parental controls, which apply to all environments using Epic text chat.
