Minecraft has always featured young animals, but until now, they were essentially just shrunken-down versions of their adult counterparts. However, the developers have unveiled a revamped look for these 'baby mobs' that leans heavily into the 'cute' factor.

Mojang Studios took to the official Minecraft website on the 7th to showcase their 'Baby Mob' remaster. Expect to see chunkier, fuzzier, and much more adorable creatures. From wolves, cats, sheep, rabbits, and ocelots to calves and chicks, the younglings are getting a complete makeover.

These new baby mobs are distinct from their adult versions. Pigs now feature shorter legs and a sturdier frame, while wolves and cats have been given a noticeably fluffier aesthetic. If you take a peek at the released footage and screenshots, the shift toward a more charming, pint-sized appeal is undeniable.

Minecraft Game Director Agnes Larsson noted, "Typically, Minecraft mobs have eyes that are two pixels wide, but the baby mobs have just one. It provides a fresh feel and is genuinely adorable." Audio Designer Sandra Karlsson added, "We wanted to capture the authentic meows of kittens to express their unique personalities, bringing more life and charm into the world of Minecraft."

While a firm release date for the updated 'baby mobs' has not yet been announced, based on previous update cycles, a release in March is expected. In the meantime, you can test them out by enabling snapshots in the Minecraft: Java Edition or by accessing the preview/beta versions of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.
