A unique simulation game has arrived that allows you to realize the actions you only imagined during Reserve Forces training.

A 1-man development outfit dubbed 'ChumiroUnreal' kicked off a crowdfunding campaign on Tumblbug for 'Reserve Forces Simulator' on the 15th. This title aims for a high degree of freedom steeped in the local Korean context, capturing the specific, often bizarre brand of experience that resonates with every South Korean man who has served.

The developer cites the GTA series and its satirical take on American culture as a reference point, opting to channel that same energy into the uniquely tedious world of the reserves. Living in that strange, bureaucratic limbo between civilian and soldier, dealing with mind-numbing drills and pointless regulations—the kind of stories that fuel every late-night drinking session—is the very heart of the gameplay. In particular, it allows you to act out those wild impulses you have suppressed during your mandatory once-a-year call-up.

Once you receive your mobilization notice and step onto the training grounds, the choice is yours. You can play the model soldier, dutifully sitting through security briefings, performing CPR, or nailing your zero-range shooting targets, or you can choose a more chaotic path. Fancy blowing up a grenade in the barracks or the armory? Go right ahead—it is not as if you could try that in real life without ending up in serious trouble. Depending on your actions, you might end up as a successfully discharged reservist or, quite predictably, the subject of a sensationalist news report.

The project began on October 28th and has been in development for about two months as a 1-man project. Core mechanics like character movement, shooting, and vehicle systems are already in place, along with AI-driven instructors. Security lectures, lunch breaks, and grenade throwing are all currently functional.

The funding period runs until February 14th, and as of January 22nd, they have hit 43% of their goal, roughly 1.3 million KRW. If the funding succeeds, the developer plans to flesh out the barracks, PX, and the parade grounds. They also intend to include the transport division, 5-minute standby teams, guard posts, and even local wildlife like water deer and wild boars to really hammer home those nostalgic military vibes.
