A fresh batch of intel regarding the open-world offerings in Crimson Desert has just surfaced.

On the 30th, Pearl Abyss released their first preview video showcasing the open-world mechanics of Crimson Desert. Titled 'Kliff and the Open World of Pywel,' the clip dives into the narrative, diverse regions, exploration, and questing systems. Players step into the boots of Kliff, navigating the vast, seamless open world of Pywel as he attempts to reclaim his homeland from his nemesis, the Black Bear, and rallies companions to rebuild his tribe.

The continent of Pywel is packed with incentives for the curious, featuring sprawling vistas, warring factions, perilous entities, and the mysterious 'Abyss.' There are five major regions to navigate: the grey-maned home of Peilun, the lush landscape of Hernand, the strategic political hub of Demenis, the technologically advanced Delesia, and the lawless Red Desert. Each area boasts its own unique lore, allowing you to drive the narrative forward through Kliff. Furthermore, you can switch to two additional playable characters, each bringing their own distinct combat styles, skills, and weaponry to the table.

There is also plenty to keep you busy beyond the main path, including treasure hunting and puzzle-solving involving horses, robots, and dragons. You can traverse the massive map quickly by utilizing traces of the Abyss found scattered across the continent. Beyond the core story, your choices dictate your journey; you might choose to liberate regions from hostile factions or assist locals in side quests to earn valuable gear and resources.

Abyss Shards, scattered throughout Pywel, are fundamental to character progression. You’ll need these to unlock fresh skills or bolster your existing ones, and they are typically earned by exploring the world or taking down formidable bosses.

Meanwhile, Crimson Desert is scheduled for a worldwide launch on PC and consoles on March 20.
