Nevertheless, many fans expressed concern that there was no mention of Larian in the Baldur's Gate 3 drama. Michael Douse, Director of Publishing at Larian Studios, also expressed his disappointment indirectly through his X (Twitter) account, stating, "I've worked with the writers and producers of Baldur's Gate 3 for the last 8-10 years, and they are the best storytellers and creators. I hope their contributions are recognized and the characters are portrayed at the same level as in the game," adding, "I don't think anyone can surpass our writers. I've watched them write, fix, and rewrite. I hope the TV drama has that same level of persistence."

In response, Swen Vincke, CEO of Larian Studios, mentioned that the drama production team had reached out to them. He stated, "We designed the ending of Baldur's Gate 3 to serve as a foundation for new adventures," and added, "Since Craig reached out to us, there will be an opportunity to convey the production team's thoughts directly. Also, I hope Divinity becomes as great a work as Baldur's Gate 3. We are investing an immense amount of time into it."

In addition, Baldur's Gate 3 features multiple endings depending on user choices. It has become a point of interest which of these will serve as the starting point for the drama's development.

Baldur's Gate 3 was released in Early Access in 2020, and after improving its quality based on user feedback, it transitioned to a full release in August 2023. It received high praise from both critics and the public, recording over 20 million copies sold, more than 34 awards, and sweeping the five major 'GOTY (Game of The Year)' titles. The key question is whether it can continue its reputation in the drama format.
