Kakao Games has announced that its subsidiary, Ocean Drive Studio, released a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming global title, God Save Birmingham, on the 13th. Alongside the footage, the company confirmed the schedule for an upcoming closed alpha test aimed at a global audience.

The new clip showcases a more refined survival loop, featuring a clearer guide system, fresh weaponry, and the kind of gritty realism—like equipment durability and hygiene management—that makes you sweat. Players can expect a more structured survival experience thanks to the intuitive guide system, while combat feels punchier with the addition of a scythe and improved aim precision. It’s all about surviving the grind, with new mechanics for weapon sharpness and personal health pushing the tension up a notch.

God Save Birmingham is an open-world zombie survival sim currently gearing up for an Early Access launch on Steam. Set in a plague-ridden 14th-century Birmingham, you’re cast as a lone survivor navigating a city crawling with the undead, scavenging for food, water, and a sturdy hideout to keep the horrors at bay.

The trailer concludes with the announcement of the first closed alpha test. Applications are open now via the Steam store page. The first wave, reserved for those who took part in the pre-alpha, runs from February 20 to 24 (KST). A second wave, open to a fresh batch of recruits, follows from February 27 to March 3.

This testing phase is all about stress-testing the core mechanics and seeing if the feedback from the pre-alpha has actually landed. The developers are using this data to steer the ship for future updates and polish the experience before the wider launch.
