Overwatch has been drawing attention by releasing attractive skins through collaborations with numerous popular titles. This time, they are teaming up with 'NieR: Automata', often considered the gold standard of collaborations. Overwatch skins based on the YoRHa squad—2B, 9S, A2, and Operator 6O—as well as Adam, will be released soon.

Blizzard officially announced the 'NieR: Automata' collaboration via the official Overwatch X (Twitter) account on the 4th. The revealed image shows Adam, A2, 9S, 2B, and Operator 6O lined up. Matching them with Overwatch heroes, Adam is paired with Lifeweaver, A2 with Ramattra, 9S with Echo, 2B with Kiriko, and Operator 6O with Mercy.

Since transitioning to a free-to-play model, Overwatch has gained momentum with aggressive collaboration skin releases. Season 1, which began on February 11th, drew attention with Sanrio skins featuring Hello Kitty, and prior to that, the game demonstrated its expansive reach by collaborating with One Punch Man, Persona 5, Street Fighter 6, and Mobile Suit Gundam. In particular, the Wing Gundam Mercy skin was a massive hit among players.

Furthermore, NieR: Automata is known as a 'reliable' collaboration IP that has been featured in various games to boost visibility. It has previously appeared in titles such as The First Descendant, Stellar Blade, PUBG Mobile, and Goddess of Victory: NIKKE. It will be interesting to see what kind of synergy emerges between the proven popularity of NieR: Automata and an Overwatch title that has rebounded since Season 1.
