Polish developer Sad Cat Studios has just dropped a fresh look at their highly anticipated 2.5D cyberpunk gem, 'REPLACED'.

REPLACED was first announced back in 2021 as a cyberpunk action thriller. The game was initially slated for a 2023 release, but was delayed to 2024 to ensure quality, and after further postponements, it is now officially set to launch on April 14.

The game transports us to an alternative 1980s America, a world reeling from a massive nuclear disaster and now held firmly in the grip of the corrupt mega-corporation, 'Phoenix'. You play as 'R.E.A.C.H.', an AI trapped inside the human body of 'Warren'. It is a rather complex situation, as R.E.A.C.H. must grapple with human emotions and instincts while unearthing the dark machinations of the corporation that brought it into existence.

You will be navigating neon-drenched alleys and crumbling industrial ruins, chaining together ranged and melee attacks to wipe out the opposition. The melee combat feels quite familiar—reminiscent of the Batman: Arkham series. Keep an eye out for red indicators to dodge, or yellow ones to parry and neutralize your foes. Landing hits charges up your firearm gauge, allowing you to dish out some serious damage when things get heated.

Beyond the combat, the game weaves in exploration elements; you will be traversing a beautifully crafted city rendered in classic pixel art, solving puzzles, and tackling platforming challenges. Along the way, you will encounter characters in a moral grey area, forcing you to ponder the deeper questions of humanity and identity. Unpicking the power structures controlled by the 'Phoenix' corporation sits at the very heart of the narrative.

REPLACED launches on April 14 for PC and Xbox Series X/S, with full support for the Korean language.
