A game has landed on Steam that looks like it was assembled entirely from a 'copy-paste' job of countless other titles.

On the 6th, NetworkGo launched a Steam page for 'Pickmon' and dropped a Summer Game Fest 2026 trailer to boot. Developed by PocketGame, Pickmon is being pitched as an open-world crafting action game focused on creature collection, though specifics like a release date remain shrouded in mystery for now.

According to the Steam store page, Pickmon is set on a massive continent where mysterious creatures and ancient ruins collide. You play as an investigator tasked with uncovering hidden secrets and facing off against legendary Pickmon that threaten the world. However, the screenshots and trailer released alongside this pitch have drawn significant flak from the gaming community.

The content displayed in the screenshots and trailer is essentially a collage of elements from already established games. You have 'Pickmon' that look suspiciously like Pikachu, Lucario, Charizard, Meganium, and Giratina from the Pokémon series, not to mention design and gameplay elements that echo Greenmoss from Palworld—a game already embroiled in its own legal battles over similarities to Pokémon.

Beyond that, the male protagonist’s design and flight animations, along with a long-tusked character appearing at the end of the trailer, feel like a direct nod to Link and Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. One of the supposed antagonists looks nearly identical to Roadhog from Overwatch, while the field structures feature something reminiscent of Aetheryte from Final Fantasy 14. Even the bike-like mountable Pickmon carries a heavy resemblance to Kamen Rider.

These design issues aside, the real concern among industry insiders lies in the broader implications of 'similarity.' While Nintendo's patent claims regarding 'monster catching' were dismissed during the legal dispute with Palworld developer Pocketpair, legal action based solely on character design is notoriously difficult. Furthermore, Pickmon explicitly showcases a card-based monster summoning mechanic in its trailer, potentially shielding it from certain legal challenges.

Despite the immediate backlash from gaming fandoms upon the Steam page's debut, both developer PocketGame and publisher NetworkGo have maintained a deafening silence regarding the matter.
