Nexon's newly appointed Chairman and Embark Studios CEO, Patrick Söderlund, has addressed the 'Maple Growing' debacle.

On the 31st, Nexon held its Capital Market Briefing (CMB) to outline its future business trajectory and growth. The event featured Chairman Patrick Söderlund, CEO Lee Jung-hun, and CFO Shiro Uemura, who explained the company's business and future. Söderlund, who led the first presentation, touched upon the past year and the current year, directly mentioning the 'Maple Growing' incident and the subsequent measures being taken.

Chairman Söderlund described the situation as a "clear failure in operational management" and stated that he is pushing for organizational restructuring to prevent recurrence. First, to strengthen risk management, a Chief Risk Officer role has been newly created, and a dual-reporting system for major issues has been made mandatory. He further emphasized that the board's oversight function is being strengthened to raise the level of internal control and ensure that such problems do not occur again through system-level improvements.

Meanwhile, Nexon mentioned that it is conducting thorough cost reviews, with management meeting regularly every week to examine the entire portfolio, including live services and new titles, and performing selection processes based on profitability criteria.
