The balance drama surrounding Slay the Spire 2 has finally cooled off, with user sentiment showing a promising recovery. Thanks to some swift footwork from the developers, the overall reception has climbed back to 'Very Positive'.

The major update late last March was a bit of a car crash, featuring a rework of the Silent’s core 'Preparation' mechanic and significant nerfs to the new character Necrobinder’s utility cards. When the dev team capped infinite loop builds and scaled back various relic effects, players felt their freedom was being shackled. Naturally, the community responded with a wave of negative reviews, dragging the overall rating down to 'Mostly Positive' and leaving recent feedback in 'Mostly Negative' territory.

Facing a full-blown PR nightmare, the team deployed an emergency hotfix on March 27. They rolled back the controversial changes to the Silent and Necrobinder cards entirely and tossed out some buffs for the Defect and Ironclad. They even tweaked the map generation algorithm to stop Elite monsters from spawning too early, easing the survival pressure that had players tearing their hair out.
