Clouded Leopard Entertainment has pulled the curtain back on the latest character details for 'Kyoto Xanadu: Eikwa Kanbu', the new title developed by Nihon Falcom. Set against the historic backdrop of Kyoto, the game revolves around the mysterious otherworld known as Xanadu. It is slated for release on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Steam.

Players will spend their time at Hirasaka Academy, where attending classes helps boost the 'Wisdom, Courage, and Benevolence' stats—essential for strengthening your 'Soul Device.' It’s a tactical balancing act: you'll use 'Action Cards' to focus and gain points, but each card costs CP. You’ll also need to weigh these against 'Support Cards' to gain an edge. Manage your limited CP wisely, or you’ll find yourself out of options before the bell rings.

The school's 'Sacred Tree' facility is your go-to for processing 'Phantom Elements'—materials scavenged from the Xanadu labyrinth—into 'Phantom Bottles.' Offer these up to the tree for various boons. You'll gather these by smashing terrain or purifying statues corrupted by miasma. A word of caution, though: overfill your bottles, and they’ll shatter, leaving you with 'Phantom Poisoning.' This nasty status effect drains your HP and renders your items useless, making exploration a real headache.

Along with the mechanics, we’ve been introduced to six new faces. First, there's 35-year-old Utsuho Tatsumiya, Rei's homeroom teacher. He's a literature instructor who defines 'lackadaisical'—expect plenty of cynical, lethargic commentary. Then there is the 34-year-old physical education teacher, Dogi. He is a mountain of a man with a bright, boisterous personality that has earned him the genuine respect of his students. Rumour has it his raw strength is so immense he can smash through stone walls with his bare fists.

Then we have 16-year-old Suzume Sawatari, a first-year student who acts as an information broker, dealing in labyrinth data. She’s the one who approached Rei after he declared his intent to fully conquer the Hirasaka Labyrinth. Joining the fray is 24-year-old Kyoya Suo, a Hirasaka graduate who combines pistol-based Soul Devices with slick martial arts. As a freelancer handling supernatural threats, he’s a bit eccentric, with a penchant for collecting bizarre trinkets under the guise of 'counter-measure research.'

Rounding out the cast is 22-year-old Momiji Kisaragi, a staff member at the Xanadu lobby who handles reception with terrifying efficiency. She’s so capable that Rei once remarked she’s 'more of a teacher than Tatsumiya is.' Finally, there's 27-year-old Minori Mirvigny, a Nordic-Japanese model living in Kyoto. She’s moved in next door to Rei, and while she’s friendly enough, there are whispers about some truly unsettling noises drifting from her apartment.
