CROSS announced on the 1st that it has officially launched its Mainnet 2.0, dubbed 'Breakpoint'. Breakpoint is a next-generation blockchain infrastructure optimised for blockchain gaming and on-chain AI agent operations. The core of this upgrade is to enhance processing performance and scalability compared to the previous mainnet, transitioning from a holding-centric structure to a participation-based network. Previously, a governance vote garnered an impressive approval rate of approximately 98%, laying the groundwork for this upgrade.

With the activation of Mainnet 2.0, block generation has commenced using a Proof of Staked Authority (PoSA) structure, underpinned by 21 validators. PoSA combines the security of validator staking with the speed and efficiency of a delegated authority structure, designed to maintain network stability while boosting transaction processing capabilities.

Network operations are structured such that basic fees are entirely burned. For its inaugural year, the network reward pool is provisioned with 300 million CROSS tokens, which will be distributed to PoSA validators and delegated staking participants. Users can leverage compounding features to easily restake their received rewards. As of June 1st, the staking reward rate stands at approximately 145%.

The artificial intelligence agent infrastructure has also been bolstered. CROSS supports the ERC-8004 on-chain AI agent standard, which specifies the interface for registering, executing, and interacting with AI agents. This provides an environment where AI agents operating within agent gaming can interoperate at the chain level.

Furthermore, the HTTP 402-based x402 payment protocol has been integrated. This protocol establishes a framework for handling the economic activities of AI agents directly on the chain, without reliance on external payment systems. Consequently, CROSS expands its on-chain utility for agent execution fees and as an x402 payment method. Beyond this, the entire CROSS ecosystem has seen updates, including a revamp of its game quest and reward platform, CROSS PLAY, to version 2.0.
