Akatsuki Games has announced the release of Chapter 12, X-OVER, for Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME, a giant-killing RPG co-developed with TOHO and Production I.G. Alongside this, a new 5-star character, Narumi Gen, also known as 'Lightning Piercing the Heavens,' has been updated.

The newly unveiled Chapter 12, X-OVER, kicks off as humanity faces its strongest foe yet: the dimension-identifying Kaiju, Kaiju No. A. In response, the international defence organisation, The Custodians, mobilises defence forces from around the globe to New York for a massive expeditionary operation. However, a snag emerges as Narumi Gen, the captain of Japan's First Unit and a crucial part of the operation, refuses to join, citing the need to remain in Japan.

Gen's refusal throws the operation into unexpected turmoil, forcing Shinonome Rin and the First Unit members to confront their limitations. They resolve to prove they don't solely rely on their powerful captain, steeling their determination once more. It's then that the genius scientist, Suto, proposes an unknown, experimental new piece of equipment – the X-OVER Suit – to Shinonome, who yearns for greater strength. The First Unit's pride and honour are put to the test against an overwhelmingly powerful adversary, propelling the story into a dramatic new phase that no one could have predicted.

The new playable character, 5-star Narumi Gen, has been officially updated. Narumi Gen is equipped with a custom-tuned Custodian Suit, developed alongside the dimension-identifying Kaiju weapon, Number 1. This equipment, similar to Rt-0001's contact lens-like device, amplifies internal electrical signals, allowing for the discharge of potent attacks through gauntlet-style gear.

A pickup gacha for the new 5-star character, Narumi Gen, is now underway. During this period, the probability of obtaining the 5-star character [Lightning Piercing the Heavens] Narumi Gen and their exclusive weapon, the 5-star rifle-gun GS-Aremic, will be significantly increased. A special event to commemorate the release of Main Story Chapter 12, X-OVER, is also running concurrently. Players can earn rewards, including up to 1,500 Dimension Crystals, by progressing through the story and participating in score battle content.
