Look, let's be honest: adventure games that tackle something as heavy and complex as schizophrenia are a rare breed. Now, the Hellblade series is back, and it's bringing Senua with it.

The news dropped during the Xbox showcase on the 8th. Our protagonist Senua returns, embarking on a grim journey into purgatory—that uneasy border between life and death—all in a desperate bid to reclaim those she holds dear.

The trailer gives us a proper look at the action, and it seems the combat has been dialled up a notch. You can sneak up on enemies for some brutal executions with sword and torch, or simply boot them across the screen before landing a stinging counter-attack. The parrying mechanics look particularly sharp this time around.

That signature, unsettling atmosphere is well and truly intact, too. We see mysterious stone slabs etched with strange symbols scattered about, guarded by a cult-like group that seems entirely too devoted. The whole thing wraps up with a rather haunting shot of Senua slowly sinking into a pool of golden liquid.

Senua is slated for release in 2027 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with full official support for Korean. Best of luck to the team.
