SNK has announced that the fighting game 'ART OF FIGHTING Gaiden R' will be added to the NeoGeo Premium Selection. This title is a remastered version of the 1996 original, ART OF FIGHTING Gaiden, featuring optimized graphics and systems tailored for modern platforms. Further details regarding the release will be announced at a later date.

The remaster retains the original's charm while incorporating modern features such as online play. Notably, two new playable characters will be added, distinguishing it from previous remaster titles. SNK explained that the 'R' added to the title stands for 'REIGNITE', 'RETUNED', and 'REVIVAL', and also relates to the initials of main characters Ryo Sakazaki and Robert Garcia.

King and Yuri Sakazaki, who were popular in the Art of Fighting series but did not appear in the original ART OF FIGHTING Gaiden, will join as new playable characters in this remaster. King is a fighter who utilizes a Muay Thai-based, calm and composed combat style with sharp kicks. Yuri Sakazaki, Ryo Sakazaki's younger sister, is a practitioner of Kyokugen Karate, known for her light, fast-paced battle style and friendly personality. Balance adjustments will also be applied across all existing characters.
