Smilegate and developer Super Creative have rolled out the Season 4 update for their dark fantasy roguelike RPG, Chaos Zero Nightmare, on August 20. This latest chapter, titled 'Neglected Black Panther', brings a fresh narrative, new faces, and a suite of quality-of-life tweaks to the galaxy-spanning disaster.

The story follows our protagonists as they accept an invitation from the notorious mercenary group, Black Spica, boarding the luxurious ark, Deneb. What ensues is, predictably, a series of dangerous mishaps. Players can farm resources through the new story and Season 4 Chaos play, which can then be traded in the supply shop for various items, most notably 'Omega Codes' used for Ego Manifestation.

Arabella and Licinia join the roster as a new combatant and partner, respectively. Arabella, the leader of Black Spica, is a seasonal combatant with a certain dangerous allure. Arabella specialises in 'Rifts' that stack damage on enemies at the end of every turn. Licinia, meanwhile, acts as a partner who boosts critical hit rates whenever the active combatant triggers these Rifts. Do take note: Arabella is only available for a limited window until September 9.

The first half of the competitive 'Great Rift' mode is now live, alongside updates like auto-save functionality and new amplification effects. Perhaps most helpful is the new 'Save Data Download System', allowing players to grab pre-made loadouts—gear and cards included—for free or via purchase to skip the grind. The 'Total War' mode, which tasks you with managing three teams, has also kicked off its new season, now featuring a 'Clear Composition' system that lets you scout the top-ranking players' team builds.

To mark the occasion, a raft of events is underway. The 'Primal Desire' event, running until September 9, allows you to interrogate specific characters alongside Arabella for rewards. Additionally, the second week of the 'Beach Cafe' event is open, offering a bit of summer-themed narrative for those interested in the lighter side of these combatants.
