A VR game based on the sci-fi novel Project Hail Mary, which enjoyed a phenomenal craze in South Korea, has been announced.

Maze Theory dropped the gameplay trailer for Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars on the 28th. The title expands the stages seen in Project Hail Mary into an immersive virtual space, allowing you to experience a sprawling cosmic journey directly from the perspective of the protagonist, Grace.

Andy Weir, the author of the original Project Hail Mary novel, directly participated in the scriptwriting. The plot follows the journey leaving Tau Ceti and heading toward 40 Eridani A, the new home and birthplace of Rocky. The core objective, just like the original work, is to safely transport cargo upon which humanity's fate rests. Unreleased navigation anecdotes unique to the VR game will also be showcased.

You will handle spaceship interior devices directly from a first-person perspective and spend time with Rocky, the only friend met in space. Rocky's voice is handled by James Ortiz, who played the role in the film version. You must manually move the control stick, meticulously manipulate interior props, check for various unexpected crisis situations and spacecraft anomalies, and figure out solutions to preserve the hull.

Meanwhile, Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars has kicked off pre-orders via the Meta Store. Users who participate in the pre-order will receive a limited-edition golden Xenonite collectible bonus that can be placed inside the spaceship.
