Joycity announced on August 16 that it has rolled out a content update commemorating the 429th anniversary of the Battle of Myeongnyang for the MMORPG 'Imjin War: Joseon's Counterattack', developed by Redjingo Games. This update brings the lunar date of September 16, when the Battle of Myeongnyang took place, to life as in-game combat content.

Through this update, players can experience the course of the Battle of Myeongnyang, where Admiral Yi Sun-sin achieved a massive victory with 12 ships on the lunar date of September 16, 1597, right inside the game. The gameplay involves defeating Japanese forces stationed on land to secure the 'Japanese Army Map', and using this map as a clue to infiltrate the Uldolmok base and wipe out anchored enemy ships. Matchlock guns acquired as spoils of war during combat can be exchanged for separate in-game rewards.

Director Kim Tae-gon, who oversaw the game's development, stated, "We wanted to present a differentiated update that aligns with the identity of the game," adding, "We plan to continuously incorporate meaningful days that many people should remember into the game's content, including the upcoming Dokdo Day."

Joycity is hosting an event to celebrate the Myeongnyang Battle update. All players logging into the game will receive 500 legendary-grade Yi Sun-sin fragments and 500 Turtle Ship fragments respectively. In addition, participants can choose and receive in-game currencies such as high-grade appointment letters and silver coins.
