Within the game, users bounce back and forth between sci-fi and fantasy realms, discovering fresh gameplay mechanics and abilities. Mio and Joy start off on less-than-friendly terms, but through various experiences within the stories they crafted, they realise that each is the other's only hope, forging a deep friendship in the process.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version is set to receive game chat and sharing communication features. Game chat supports real-time voice and video calls, which should ramp up the immersion during online co-op sessions. This feature is planned to integrate live video feeds into the existing ping UI. The sharing communication feature enables local play sessions. A single copy of the game allows local co-op across two Nintendo Switch 2 devices, and cross-generation functionality is also planned to support local play sessions with the first-generation Nintendo Switch as well.
