Digital Lighthouse Games, the gaming development division of Digital Lighthouse Studios, first revealed its debut title, Encryption, at the Galaxy Gaming Showcase on the 15th local time. The game delivers a thrilling psychological horror adventure experience driven by cinematic direction and visual realism, dragging players straight into the ancient southern Italian city of Matera.

Encryption follows the story of a father named Leonardo, who sets out to find his missing daughter Arianna amidst a raging wildfire sweeping through southern Italy. Leonardo's journey leads to Matera, one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements on the planet, where the flames have engulfed the city and turned once-bustling streets utterly desolate. Venturing deep beneath the city streets, Leonardo quickly realises that they are not alone.

The game is designed as a cinematic first-person horror adventure combining exploration, puzzles, and stealth elements. Digital Lighthouse Games noted that the team utilised its expertise in 3D laser scanning and photogrammetry to create an immersive digital recreation of Matera and southern Italian architecture and landscapes based on real-world locations.

Adriano Bizzoco, studio head at Digital Lighthouse Games, stated that Encryption is a rich psychological horror game unraveling dark, hidden truths through themes of the supernatural, loss, and devastation. Adriano Bizzoco added that the team is immensely proud of recreating Matera and southern Italy using proprietary 3D laser scanning and photogrammetry technology, and looks forward to sharing much more of the world of Encryption and the many mysteries held within it going forward.

The game features cinematic sequences and full voice acting as a narrative-driven adventure where multiple stories interweave like a puzzle. Enemies such as shadow entities track players, drawn to every single sound made, while the environment itself remains unsafe and exposes players to various hazards. Players must solve puzzles based on ancient mysteries or hidden clues while outsmarting enemies using pure wit. A variety of technologies have been applied to bring the real world into the game, including terrestrial and aerial 3D laser scanning, photogrammetry, Unreal Engine-based environment reconstruction, and motion capture animation. Encryption is scheduled for release on PC in 2027, and the wishlist feature is currently available on Steam.
