Look, let us be honest—the Korea Creative Content Agency (hereinafter KOCCA) has bagged the grand prize in the governance (G) sector at the 5th Korea ESG Innovation Policy Awards hosted by the Korean Association for Policy Studies. This marks a five-year consecutive winning streak for KOCCA starting from 2022.

The Korea ESG Innovation Policy Awards were established by the Korean Association for Policy Studies to uncover and spread excellent ESG policy cases promoted by public institutions and public enterprises.

To respond to sustainable management disclosures and related demands and to strengthen the sustainable management competitiveness of the content industry as a whole, KOCCA launched 'K-Content ESG LEADERS' last November. Major content companies in music, broadcasting, and other fields are affiliated, and Krafton and Pearl Abyss participated from the gaming sector.

At the time of the launch, the participating companies agreed on four practical directions: practicing environmental responsibility, fulfilling social responsibility, establishing transparent governance, and building a network to spread ESG management.

KOCCA developed ESG practice tools reflecting the characteristics of the content industry based on public-private cooperative governance. Cooperating with CJ ENM, KOCCA released a carbon emission calculator for the broadcasting and video field, and prepared a carbon emission calculator for the performance and event field with SM Entertainment. In addition, KOCCA established related plus-point indicators in content support projects to spread ESG performance to the industrial field.

The agency plans to strengthen support so that large-enterprise-centric ESG management experience and practical know-how can be spread to small and medium-sized content companies and the industry as a whole. Centered around K-Content ESG LEADERS, KOCCA plans to discover inter-company cooperation and joint tasks, share ESG practice cases of participating companies, and publish a K-Content ESG management best practice collection that small and medium-sized enterprises can use in the field.

KOCCA President Kim Yun-ji stated, "This award is of great significance in that it has been recognized for building a public-private cooperative system with representative companies of the content industry and expanding ESG management into a joint practical task for the industry." President Kim added, "We will continue to strengthen support so that the experience and capabilities of large enterprises can spread to small and medium-sized content companies and lead to the strengthening of the sustainable global competitiveness of the K-content industry."
