The Gyeonggi Content Agency (GCA) announced that 'SQUIDWAR', developed by Gyeonggi-based game studio ExoGames and selected for the 2024 Future Tech Game Revitalization Production Support program, was officially released domestically on October 16 for AOS and iOS platforms.

This initiative aims to promote game development incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) technology and strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium-sized game companies with limited technical accessibility. Starting with the Future Tech Game Verification Support in 2023, the program provided 100 million won to one company in 2024 through the 'Future Tech Game Revitalization Production Support.' This year, the program was reorganized into Future Tech Game Production Support, selecting two companies and providing 50 million won to each.

SQUIDWAR is a PvP-based survival game that can be enjoyed by up to 16 players. Following its mobile release, PC and console versions are currently in development. The game reduces waiting times by introducing AI characters (bots) and drop-in gameplay.

Based on the technology accumulated during the development process, ExoGames has produced an 'AI Character Creation Manual Using Unity ML-Agents,' which includes an introduction to the AI production tool Unity ML-Agents, methods for implementing AI characters using ML-Agents, and actual development case studies.
