Look, let's be honest, it takes about two decades for a live streaming pioneer to finally get its own proper roof over the head. SOOP has secured a brand new headquarters in Pangyo, and the plan is to gradually consolidate its scattered business outposts. Since launching the streaming service back in 2005, this move is all about boosting inter-team collaboration and building a somewhat more efficient workspace.

SOOP announced on August 4 that the company has decided to acquire the land and building located at GB2-C Building, 25 Pangyo-ro 256beon-gil, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do. As the service and business sectors continue to expand, the corporate management, tech, business divisions, and various affiliates ended up fragmented across multiple workplaces. To strengthen the collaboration foundation for major departments and create a more organic working environment, SOOP pushed forward with securing this integrated business hub.

The company plans to utilise the newly acquired building as both the main headquarters and an R&D centre. The workspaces for management, technology, business divisions, and major affiliates will be rearranged in a phased manner. SOOP aims to kick off the hub reorganization starting in the fourth quarter of this year and wrap it all up by the first quarter of 2028.

Once the workspace rearrangement is fully done, the physical distance between organisations will shrink, which should supposedly make decision-making and collaboration run much more smoothly. Plus, the company expects to boost the utilisation of human and spatial resources previously scattered across different sites, creating some genuine synergy through integrated operations. Sure, acquisition and relocation will bring some one-off costs, but once the dust settles, reduced fixed operating expenses like rent and maintenance across multiple sites should improve medium-to-long-term cash flow.

An official at SOOP stated, "This new headquarters acquisition is a medium-to-long-term investment to enhance inter-organisational collaboration and respond more agilely to the changing business environment." The official also added, "We will stably proceed with the move and organizational rearrangement to increase connectivity between teams and further strengthen our capabilities for technological innovation and business growth."
