Nexon hosted the final round of the NYPC 10th anniversary collegiate league, 'NYPC Code Battle', alongside the main event of the 10th 'Nexon Youth Programming Challenge (NYPC 2025)' at its Pangyo headquarters on October 25.

Since its inception in 2016, NYPC has been Nexon’s annual competition to foster interest and sharpen skills in coding under the banner of 'Coding that Changes the World'. To mark its decade-long milestone, they introduced the 'NYPC Code Battle', a team-based programming competition specifically for university students.

The NYPC Code Battle saw roughly 4,900 participants in the online rounds, with 76 finalists across 24 teams making the trip to Pangyo for the final round.

The grand prize went to the team 'Let's win NYPC with Cho Young-wook', comprised of Seoul National University students Park Sang-hoon (20), Lee Dong-hyun (19), Cho Young-wook (21), and Choi Daniel (20). Lee Dong-hyun said, "I’m incredibly grateful to have won with friends I’ve competed alongside since high school."

The gold prize was awarded to team 'kopagi', featuring Im Yu-jin (24), Cho Seung-han (23), and Seoul National University student Ko Dong-hyun (24). Ko Dong-hyun noted, "It was a profound experience to grow together by leveraging our individual strengths."

Meanwhile, the NYPC 2025 main competition drew about 3,000 entrants. After the online preliminary rounds, 61 finalists from the 15-19 age bracket and 20 from the 12-14 category advanced to the main stage.

In the 12-14 age division, the top honor went to Parkmun Middle School student Yu Seong-jae (13). "I studied incredibly hard preparing for the NYPC," he said. "Receiving the grand prize feels like a rewarding payoff for all that effort."

For the 15-19 category, Korea Science Academy student Jeong Min-chan (17) took the win. "The problems were tougher than last year, so I didn't expect to win, but I'm happy to receive the grand prize," he remarked. "I'm thankful to my parents for their unwavering support."

The award ceremony was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korea Creative Content Agency, and the Game Culture Foundation.

Nexon Foundation Chairman Kim Jung-wook (who also serves as CEO) stated, "The past ten years of NYPC have been a meaningful journey, watching our future leaders broaden their perspectives and discover their potential through code. We remain committed to nurturing talent to spark positive change."

Nexon CEO Kang Dae-hyun added, "I hope this competition allowed you to see problems differently and find joy in crafting your own solutions. We will continue to build environments where you can let your imagination run wild."
