The Trump administration has landed Microsoft in a difficult situation by using Halo imagery without authorization.

Shortly after the announcement of Halo: Combat Evolved on the 27th, the White House posted an AI-generated image on its official X account depicting Donald Trump clad in the iconic Master Chief armor. They also quoted a post from US retailer GameStop dated the 26th that declared 'the console wars are over,' while referencing the retailer’s slogan, 'Power to the Player.'

The government’s actions did not stop there. Hours later, the Department of Homeland Security posted a message stating, 'Finish this fight.' The accompanying image featured the Warthog from Halo, with the caption 'Destroy the Flood' superimposed over it, along with a link to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recruitment page.

This use of Halo’s intellectual property was reportedly unauthorized by Microsoft. Given the politically aggressive nature of the second post, it could potentially impact the Halo brand.

Users who encountered the posts expressed concern, with comments such as, 'Is this really how a government should behave?', 'Illegal immigration enforcement is one thing, but what did Halo do to deserve this?', and 'They’ve effectively turned Master Chief into a conservative mouthpiece.'
