BioWare’s Anthem, a title that left a mark on history, has finally shuttered its servers. As an online-only title, the game is no longer accessible for login or gameplay.

Launched in February 2019, Anthem was a sci-fi online shooter. Before its release, it garnered high expectations as an online shooter from BioWare, a master of RPGs, backed by the reputation built through the Mass Effect series. It offered unique gameplay at the time, such as characters donning suits to soar through the air.

However, the actual game was met with harsh criticism due to numerous issues. Endgame content was lacking, a significant number of bugs were discovered, and there were even reports of serious issues on console versions where the game forced hardware to shut down, potentially causing damage to the devices.

In response to these issues, BioWare implemented seasonal updates and 'Cataclysm' content. In the first year of release, they halted small-scale updates and announced a complete overhaul of the game based on long-term plans. However, despite these measures, the game failed to rebound. By February of the following year, all plans for the Anthem overhaul were scrapped, and future updates were discontinued. Subsequently, the service termination was announced in July 2025.

Related communities were bustling with users bidding farewell to Anthem. Players shared memories by posting screenshots of their favorite Javelin exosuits and snapshots taken against the backdrop of their bases.
